It arrives on Monday...
It arrives on Monday...
A friend and I got the urge to get an entry level powerkite. An auction for a HQ Beamer V 5.0 came up in an incredibly ironic proximity to when we had talked about it, so... Yeah. Scared and excited are about as close to accurate description of how I'm feeling, at least without using a few more colorful words. For the sake of staying, uh... mature sounding at the very least. We will be videoing our first outing, but not for reverence, rather to collect as many views as possible with the clips of us getting pwned by a "kite"! Fingers crossed!

Sounds like . . . . ? fun ? I talked to a guy a while back that was flying a quad about that size in really light winds at Veterans Park in Milwaukee. Handles like really oversize rev handles. He said he used it for strength training on land to prep for kite surfing. Had a go myself, and it was fun . . . but the winds were really light.
At least it might be entertaining . . . . .
Seriously, be safe when flying.

yup, it can pull hard. But if you're using handles you can always let go if you get lofted.
Now you need a buggy :)
Looking forward to the video...

Ok! I'm off to wait for the mail person. Fingers crossed!

Careful what you wish for. I have a 4m trainer with a depower line. Don't be afraid to let go. It can kill you if you're not careful. Sometimes going through the center of the wind window is scary when you realize how strong the air really is.
Bonum vinum laetificat cor hominis

Oh I about giggled the first time I got dragged! Not at all a kite to have in anything more than a breeze. For sure.
