Let’s move on to the juicy part of the article and talk about the 10 best forex technical indicators. 

1. Moving average

Moving averages are one of the most popular indicators in forex trading. It belongs to a family of trend indicators and tells about the overall market trend. 

When we talk about the calculation, a moving average is a simple calculation that takes the average price of a currency pair over a specific period. The most commonly used periods are 20, 50, , and days.

You can use the MA in various strategies. When the price crosses below or above the MA, it may signal a potential change in trend. 

Another common strategy is to combine the two MAs. 

When the short-term MA crosses above the long-term MA, it's considered a bullish signal. On the other hand, when the short-term MA crosses below the long-term MA, it's a sign of a downtrend.

There are different types of MAs you can use. These include; 

• EMA (Exponential Moving Average)

• SMA (Simple Moving Average)

• WMA (Weighted Moving Average)

• VWMA (Volume Weighted Moving Average)

Their calculation differs slightly from the traditional MA, but the concept remains the same.

2. Ichimoku

Did you know Ichimoku was developed by a Japanese journalist named Goichi Hosoda in the late s? 

The indicator's full name is Ichimoku Kinko Hyo, which roughly translates to "one glance equilibrium chart" in Japanese.

The Ichimoku indicator is unique because it contains five lines plotted on a price chart. These lines provide you with a more comprehensive view of the market and help identify potential trends and market reversals.

The 5 lines of the Ichimoku indicator are:

• Tenkan-sen: This is the faster-moving average line, calculated by averaging the highest and lowest low over the last nine periods.

• Kijun-sen: This is the slower-moving average line, calculated by averaging the highest and lowest low over the last 26 periods.

• Senkou Span A: Span A represents the midpoint between the Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen lines and is plotted 26 periods ahead.

• Senkou Span B: Span B line mentions the midpoint of the highest high and the lowest low over the last 52 periods and is also plotted 26 periods ahead.

• Chikou Span: CS illustrates the closing price of the current candle and is plotted 26 periods back.

The Ichimoku indicator can identify support and resistance levels and trend reversals. The crossover of the Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen lines can be used to identify potential entry and exit points. 

Additionally, you can check the space between Senkou Span A, and Senkou Span B can be used to identify areas of support or resistance.

3. Relative Strength Index

Ah, the good Ol’ RSI! 

RSI, or the Relative Strength Index, is another popular technical indicator used in forex trading. It identifies potential market trends and reversals. The indicator measures the strength of price movements by comparing the average gain and loss of the price over a specific period. 

The RSI calculations generate a value between 0 and , with values above 70 indicating that a forex pair is overbought and values below 30 illustrating an oversold level. 

You can use the RSI to identify potential entry and exit points. For example, if the RSI is above 70, it's considered an overbought level, and you can go short. On the other hand, if the RSI is below 30, it's an oversold condition, and you can go long.

4. Stochastic

We have another momentum oscillator on our list! Like the RSI, the Stochastic determines the market trends and reversals. 

The Stochastic indicator consists of two lines: %K and %D. The %K line measures the current market momentum, while the %D line is a moving average of the %K line. 

The indicator oscillates between 0 and , while values above 80 are overbought, while below 20 are oversold. 

To enter the trade, when the Stochastics reach near or above 80, it signifies a bearish reversal, and you can take short positions. Conversely, if the oscillator reaches near or below 20, it suggests a bullish reversal, and you can go long.

5. Bollinger Bands

When you start trading, you'll always hear Bollinger Bands for every beginner tutorial you watch. 

Bollinger Bands consist of three lines: the upper, lower, and middle, and measure the price volatility. 

• The upper and lower bands are calculated by adding and subtracting a multiple of the standard deviation of the price from the middle band. 

• The middle band is a simple moving price average over a specific period. 

The Bollinger Bands create a channel on the chart, with the upper and lower bands acting as support and resistance levels. 

When the price moves toward the upper band, it's considered overbought, and we can anticipate a bearish reversal. Conversely, when the price moves toward the lower band, it's considered oversold, and we can have a bullish reversal.

 6. ATR

ATR, aka Average True Range, is another technical indicator used in forex trading to measure volatility. Developed by J. Welles Wilder, ATR calculates the average range of price movement over a specific period. 

If the ATR line is high, it indicates that the forex pair is experiencing high volatility. It's important to note that there can be sharp price movements during high volatility. So, using ATR, you can adjust your strategies accordingly. 

When the ATR line is low, it illustrates low volatility. Forex pairs don't move much during low volatility, so you have to tweak your strategy according to the current market condition.

7. Fibonacci

The next one on our list is not exactly an indicator but a key technical analysis tool. The tool is based on the Fibonacci sequence, a series of numbers that appears in many natural phenomena, such as the branching of trees and spirals of seashells. 

The Fibonacci retracement levels are calculated by drawing a trendline between two points on a chart and are based on the Fibonacci ratios. These ratios are %, %, 50%, %, and %. We can expect a price reversal whenever the price hits these key ratios. 

To use the tool, first, you need to draw it properly. You start by drawing a trendline between two points on the chart, such as a recent low and a recent high. Most trading software like Mitrade Webtrader comes with an automatic Fibonacci tool, so you don't have to do it yourself.

When drawing from a high point to a low point, you look to go short whenever the price touches Fibonacci ratios. On the other hand, when drawing from the low to the high point, you go long when the price touches key ratios.

 8. Pivot Point

We have another tool on our list. Pivot points are used to identify areas of support and resistance. They're calculated using the previous day's high, low, and close prices and plotted on the chart as horizontal lines.

There are several types of pivot points. These include 

• Standard pivot point

• Fibonacci pivot point

• Woodie pivot point

Each type uses a slightly different calculation method, but they all identify key support and resistance levels.

The most common way to trade Pivot Points is to take positions when the price reaches a pivot level. 

You can take long positions if the price reaches a pivot point in an uptrend. On the other hand, if the price reaches a pivot point in a downtrend, you can enter short trades.

It’s important to note that Pivot Point comes as an indicator rather than a simple tool on many trading platforms.

 9. Awesome Oscillator

The Awesome Oscillator belongs to a family of oscillators and is used to tell the trend’s momentum. The Awesome Oscillator is calculated by taking the difference between two SMAs, and it creates a histogram on the chart. 

The histogram oscillates above and below a zero line, creating green and red bars on the chart. When the histogram bars are green and above the zero line, this suggests bullish momentum. On the other hand, if the bars are red and below the zero line, it mentions a bearish momentum. 

You can also use the oscillator by looking for divergences. If the price makes new highs, but AO doesn't, it signifies a bullish momentum. Conversely, if the price makes new lows, but the AO doesn't, it shows a bearish momentum.

MACD

So, we have reached the end of our list of the best forex technical indicators. What better way to end the list than with the super popular indicator among forex traders? 

MACD, aka, Moving Average Convergence Divergence, identifies trends and momentum. 

It consists of a MACD line, a signal line, and a histogram. 

When the MACD line crosses above the signal line, this is seen as bullish. Conversely, when the MACD line crosses below the signal line, it's a sign of bullish momentum. 

Like the AO, MACD's histogram determines the market trend. When the histogram bars are green and above zero, it suggests bullish momentum. On the other hand, if the bars are red and below zero, it signifies a bearish momentum. 

Like other oscillators on our list, you can use MACD to identify divergences.  We have a bearish divergence if the price is making higher highs, but the MACD is making lower highs. Contrarily, if the price is making lower lows, but the MACD is making higher lows, this is called bullish divergence.

With this manual, we’ll teach the terminal to signal when the price hits a certain price level via voice messages.

The feature is useful, since enabling such alerts will help you to reduce the time spent in front of the computer monitor.

This Forex life hack will keep you from sitting near the terminal and allow you to know exactly the currency pair and the price movement direction upon hitting the preset level by the price.

So, this is the manual itself:

Step 1. Phrase for MT4

• Visit Google Translator’s website (eunic-brussels.eu);
• Select your preferred source language.
• Enter the desired phrase, for example: “Euro-dollar, the price is above the level”;
• Now click the “Listen” icon in the text window.

Step 2. Downloading Audio File

You can save the sound in a number of ways: record it via sound recording or download it from the Google Translator itself (namely, Google Chrome browser).

We’ll describe the latter method of downloading audio file:

Note: audio file is saved in the “.mp3” format by default, but MT4 doesn’t support this format, so the resulting audio file must be converted to the “.wav” format.

Step 3. Conversion

To do this, use the online converter at eunic-brussels.eu

• Go to the website and click Select Files.
• Select the audio file previously downloaded on your computer.
• Set “.wav” as the conversion format and click Start Conversion.
• If the conversion was successful, click Download to download our audio file.

Step 4. Placing Audio File in MT4

• Put the resulting audio file in the following folder of the terminal: Metatrader4 – Sounds.
• Next, start the terminal, go to the “Alerts” tab, create new alert, configure the required settings, and choose the path to our audio file.

Tip: set timeout value to more than 30 seconds.

This technique can be applied to other notifications, such as “5 minutes to the ECB head Mario Draghi speech”, etc.

Program ini merupakan program yang di buat untuk memonitor pergerakan

Dengan program ini, kita dapat melihat trend (menguat/melemah) mata uang mana yang sedang
berlangsung atau tidak ada trend (sideways). Mengingat pergerakan forex sangat cepat, sehingga di
sarankan untuk masuk posisi pada saat trend sedang berlangsung dan menutup posisi pada saat tend
sudah tidak ada. Perlu di ketahui bahwa menguatnya suatu mata uang akan mempengaruhi mata

Selama ini biasanya kita hanya memonitor pergerakan harga pada satu atau beberapa pair mata
uang saja, atau bahkan sedang memantau posisi mata uang yang sedang kita tradingkan, misalnya
BUY EURUSD, tapi tahukah anda bahwa masih ada paling sedikit 27 pair mata uang di luar sana yang
sedang/akan saling ‘bertransaksi’ satu sama lain, maka tidak lah mengherankan jika tiba-tiba posisi
trading kita menjadi belawanan arah , karena kita sedang terpaku pada pair yang di-tradingkan tanpa
memperhitungkan kondisi mata uang lainnya. Ada lagi contoh yang membuat kita geleng-geleng
kepala karena terkena Margin Call (MC), betapa tidak !. Pada saat berita besar di release (big news/
high impact), dan hasilnya positif bagi mata uang tersebut, adalah seorang trader dengan penuh
keyakinan melakukan over trade dengan harapan untung besar, tapi kenyatanaan apa yang terjadi,
market malah merespon negatif berita tersebut, hingga puluhan pips dan alhasil sampe kena MC.
Setelah beberapa jam, market baru merespon berita tersebut, hal ini sering terjadi. Pada
kenyataannya, MARKET bukan merespon negatif berita tersebut, tapi pada saat berita itu di keluarkan
ada t r e n d ‘transaksi lain’ yang sedang berlangsung, yang berimbas pada pelemahan mata uang
tersebut, tapi setelah ‘transaksi lain’ tersebut melemah, barulah pasar merespon hasil berita tersebut.

Pada Menu dashboard tersebut, disajikan tampilan dasar yang cerah, agar trader lebih mudah dan
cepat dalam memilih tools tersebut.

Disana juga terlihat beberapa mata uang yang disusun secara otomatis berdasarkan peringkat-nya &
juga ada signal trend. Begitu pula ada ‘pop up’ yang menyatakan sedang ada break up/down, tampak
pada gambar tersebut CAD (warna biru) break up terhadap GBP, JPY & USD (warna merah).

Hal lain yang perlu di perhatikan pada tampilan menu adalah seperti pada gambar berikut ini

EUR ada di urutan pertama dan memperoleh floating 17 pips, kedua NZD 7 pips, JPY 3 pips, dst.
Misalnya pada gambar diatas mata uang NZD dengan 7 pips ini diperoleh dari; Klik pada NZD Indicator,
perhatikan gambar spt di bawah ini (angka 7 di kiri atas).

Terlihat JPY angka 7 dan di bawahnya ada angka 3 (kecil)

JPY 7 artinya JPY berhasil membuka posisi open sebanyak 7 posisi, walaupun masih ada yg floating –
Dan angka 3 kecil itu adalah 3 positive utk trend nya.

Pada tampilan Dashboard ini JPY menguat terhadap GBP dengan tampilan dasar warna hijau yang
artinya JPY menguat, begitu pula terhadap USD & CAD. Tapi jika kita melihat pada dashboard GBP
USD atau CAD Indicator, pair GBPJPY, USDJPY & CADJPY tampilan dasar warna menjadi merah,
menandakan mata uang tersebut melemah terhadap JPY, jadi tergantung kita melihat dari sisi mana
pilihan mata uang tersebut
Cara Baca Forex Trend Indicator
Dalam garis besarnya forex trading tidak lepas yang namanya faktor jual dan beli, disini kita harus
jeli melihat dengan mengambil tindakan yang cepat dan tepat, karena pergerakan dan
perubahannya sangat cepat.

Perlu ditekankan sekali lagi, pada umumnya trader hanya trading pada pair (pasangan) mata uang
major, seperti EURUSD , EURJPY, GBPUSD , GBPJPY, USDCHF , USDJPY , AUDUSD, hal ini sah dilakukan
tapi sepatutnya kita harus melihat secara keseluruhan pergerakan mata uang tersebut, karena
penguatan suatu mata uang bisa membuat mata uang lain ikut menguat dan sebaliknya.

Kita ambil contoh, Seorang trader mengambil satu posisi BUY EURUSD, sangat riskan bagi seorang
trader mengambil keputusan untuk BUY EURUSD, jika tidak memperrhatikan hal ini ,
1. Seberapa kuat mata uang EURO ini terhadap mata uang lainnya
2. Seberapa lemah mata uang USD ini terhadap mata uang lainnya
Dan tak kalah penting nya masih ada ada 27 pair lagi yang harus diketahui trend-nya.

Jika menggunakan plataform MT4 untuk mendeteksi trend seperti ini, maka sangat merepotkan
sekali dan lambat untuk mengambil keputusan karena harus membuka 28 chart pair dan tentunya
proses eksekusi ikut terhambat, apalagi jikakoneksi internet tidak cukup besar.

Dengan dasar itu, terciptalah program ini yang mudah mendeteksi trend dan di tambah dengan
adanya sound alert jika terjadi break up/down (mencetak harga tertinggi/ terendah)

Angka-angka ini juga merupakan hasil dari kalkulasi dari setiap pasang mata uang (BID-HIGH-LOW),
dan di-urutkan berdasarkan nilai tertinggi.
Sebagai contoh untuk mata uang JPY yang berada di-urutan pertama dan di hitung pada pips+ saja
Pada baris mendatar adalah nilai pips + (plus)
JPY dapat nilai pips + (plus) dari NZD(43) CHF(23) EUR(44) AUD (45) GBP(73) CAD(46) USD(48)
Jika di total hasilnya adalah pips.
Artinya, JPY mengalami kenaikan harga dan USD turun.

Perlu ditambakan sedikit bahwa dalam tampilan tersebut terlihat angka merah (background hijau)
menandakan bahwa seharusnya mata uang yang paling atas medapatkan pip lebih besar. Jika kita
perhatikan, pair NZDCHF, mata uang NZD berada diposisi 2 dan CHF urutan ke 3. Sejak NZD berada di
urutan ke 2 seharusnya nilai pips nya lebih besar, tetapi karena nilai pips-nya lebih kecil dari CHF (NZD
memperoleh hanya 17 dan CHF 29), maka otomatis angkanya menjadi merah, ini terjadi pada trend
indicator + (plus), silakan di cek pada trend indicator & trend indicator – (minus)

Angka-angka ini juga merupakan hasil dari kalkulasi dari setiap pasang mata uang (BID-HIGH-LOW),
dan diurutkan berdasarkan nilai terendah.
Sebagai contoh untuk mata uang CHF yang berada di urutan pertama dan di hitung pada pips- saja
Pada kolom menurun adalah nilai pips - (minus).
CHF dapat nilai 58 pips - (minus) dari JPY(23) EUR(2) USD (1) CAD(3) NZD(17) GBP(2) AUD(10)
Jika di total hasilnya adalah 58 pips.
Artinya, CHF naik dan AUD turun

Pips + (PLUS) bisa juga di sebut pips away from low (PRICE BID – PRICE LOW)
Pips – (MINUS) bisa juga di sebut pips away from high (PRICE HIGH – PRICE BID)

Sebagai contoh mata uang GBP (contoh pada gambar di atas).
Melihat perbandingan posisi mata uang GBP terhadap mata uang lainnnya.
Jika warna hijau, mendomiasi pada area ini berarti mata uang tersebut menguat.
GBPAUD, GBPNZD, & GBPUSD, menunjukkan kekuatan trend GBP.
Sedangkan lainnya sedang mencari trend untuk bisa melemah/ menguat terhadap mata uang GBP.
Sebaliknya jika warna merah mendominasi pada fibo ini berarti mata uang tersebut sedang melemah.
Pada fibo ini juga ditampilkan range pips harian yang sedang berjalan, dan juga signal.

Kita ambil contoh untuk pair GBPUSD disitu terlihat

Data-data tersebut telah di buat otomatis, tidak di input secara manual pada program ini,
bayangkan jika harus di input, per pair saja kita harus input harga kemarin sebanyak 3 kolom yaitu
harga BID HIGH & LOW, sedangkan semua pair ada 28, lumayan melehkan dan makan waktu saja.
Kita harus melihatnya di history pada masing-masing pair dan meng-inputnya satu per satu.

Angka merupakan nilai real pip untuk mata uang EUR.
(Silakan di cek pada Dashboard ‘Trend Indicator’)
Pada Gambar di atas, kita bisa lihat hasil entry market yang di lakukan oleh mata uang Canada (CAD)
terhadap mata uang lainnya , dan juga kita bisa lihat CAD mendapat nilai floating profit setiap mata
uang.
Dan juga total floating pips yang di peroleh, ini semua di lakukan secara otomatis.

CAD = 7 sudah di jelaskan di atas, bahwa CAD melakukan entry point sebanyak 7 pair yang berbeda
dan berada di urutan pertama (urutan secara otomatis)

Background hijau pada CAD dan merah pada NZD menandakan bahwa CAD sedang mencetak harga
tertinggi terhadap mata uang NZD dan NZD mencetak harga terendah terhadap CAD.

Mapping Currency dibagi menjadi 3 group besar yaitu sesuai zona wilayah
Eropa = EUR GBP CHF bisa kita sebut menjadi ZONA A1
Australia = AUD & NZD bisa kita sebut menjadi ZONA A2
Amerika = USD CAD bisa kita sebut menjadi ZONA B1
Asia = JPY bisa kita sebut menjadi ZONA B2

Salah satu penyebab demo version program Trend Indicator tidak berjalan dengan semestinya
