В изучении исторических процессов, протекавших в Древности и Средневековье в евразийских степях, особое место принадлежит Южному Зауралью. Это обусловлено тем, что любое крупное перемещение кочевников с востока степной Евразии на запад или с запада на восток проходило, в силу географических особенностей степного пояса, через Южное Зауралье. Древности этого региона отразили динамику взаимодействия населения восточной и западной частей евразийских степей. На этой территории осуществлялся сплав привнесенных переселенцами традиций Востока и Запада, здесь зарождались новые этнокультурные образования, сыгравшие в дальнейшем свою роль в древней истории западной части Евразии, особенно Восточной Европы. Вместе с тем степи Южного Зауралья являлись составной частью системы «оазис–степь–лесостепь», включавшей три основные подсистемы: государственные образования оседло-земледельческих обществ Центральной (Средней) Азии, кочевые объединения урало-казахстанских степей и оседлые и полуоседлые образования лесостепи. Естественно, каждая из названных подсистем имела свою специфику, присущие только ей особенности и закономерности развития. Однако, входя в систему взаимоотношений, любая из этих подсистем так или иначе влияла на другие и в свою очередь испытывала обратное воздействие. Ключевым звеном в этой системе, звеном, объединяющим систему, были кочевники урало-казахстанский степей, в частности номады Южного Зауралья. In the study of the historical processes of Antiquity and the Middle Ages in the Eurasian Steppe, a special place belongs to the South Trans-Urals, as any major movement of nomads from the east of the Eurasian Steppe, to the west or from the west to the east passed through the South Trans-Urals due to the geographical features of the steppe belt. The antiquities of this region reflected the dynamics of the interaction between the eastern and western parts of the Eurasian Steppe population. In this territory, the East and West traditions brought by the immigrants were fused; there emerged new ethnicalcultural formations, which later played their role in the ancient history of western Eurasia and, especially, Eastern Europe. At the same time, the South Trans-Urals steppes were an integral part of the oasis–steppe–forest-steppe system, which included three main subsystems: the state formations of the settled agricultural communities of Central (Middle) Asia, the nomadic associations of the Ural-Kazakhstan steppes, as well as the settled and semi-settled formations of the foreststeppe. Naturally, each of the aforementioned subsystems had its own specifics, particular features and development patterns. However, entering a relationship system, any of these subsystems in one way or another influenced the others and, in turn, experienced a reciprocal effect. The key link in this system, the link uniting the system was the nomads of the Ural-Kazakhstan steppe, in particular the nomads of the South Trans-Urals.
