Hello

Postby Chuck » Wed, Feb 06 2008, 12:48 AM

Hi the names Chuck, just found this site. I got in to flying a couple years ago.

Got a lot of single line kites, most store bought, I have made a few, looking to find info on events, and plans for making kites. Joined AKA last year.

Do most of my flying at IL. state beach park. in Zion or Waukegan lake front.

Looks like I found the right web site!!!! :-D

Welcome Chuck!
For a list of festivals, see here:

About making kites:
The best thing to do is to go to MAKR. Several of our club members will be there. It's a kite making retreat with a bunch of great folks at a great price. You'll have to jump on it though, as things are filling up. Check it out here:
http://www.makr.info/

Any questions you have, please post them! Is there a specific style of kite you would like to make? Post a question in the kite plans or sewing section of the forum.

I was going to call for a club fly this Sunday, but with the predicted high being in the low teens, I decided not to.
The next club fly may not be until the first weekend of March. Probably in downtown Chicago at the former Meigs field.
Maybe we'll get to meet you in person then.

(re: Jeff's post above. I get kind of excited about getting people to try flying the Revolution quad-line kite. It's a ton of fun... you'll see :-D )

Welcome Aboard Chuck.

If you can make MAKR, you wont be sorry. I will be going again this year, last year was my first and it was a BLAST. To make it even better this year is their 20th anniversary. Like Mike said there will be some of our other members there too. Hope to see you there.

Chuck, please listen to me. Delete this website from your computer. Do it now! Try and forget you ever came here.

You are about to be sucked it to a very dangerous situation.

Look at me. I'm about to travel to both coasts within a month just to fly kites. Flying kites in the snow and below zero temps are a real potential hazard. Even flying indoors if you can imagine.

Every weekend in the summer could be a whirlwind of going to new cities and meeting new people just to fly your kites. What kind of mileage does your car get? Think about it.

You may find yourself constantly looking to see which way the wind is blowing. Do you like watching the Weather Channel 3 hours a day?

I haven’t even gotten into the $$ of kites. Single line, Duel line, Quad line. OMG!

Take the blue pill. Avoid this rabbit hole altogether.

Oh, and before I forget, welcome aboard.

The forum is pretty quiet right now, but it will pick up again in spring. It's just too cold to get out much right now.

Chuck

Welcome to IKE from another California member.

This is the reason wo many IKE members are headed for California next week for Kite Party.

Not all of the trees are brown, nor the skys gray.

I took this pic about ten minutes ago from the patio at our condo in Laguna Woods, CA

Jim.

Hello, I'm Jaymes, and new to the forum.
I live in Xenia OH, and I have been flying for over ten years. I fly DLK the most, but just got started in the Revolution Quads, and I'm looking for anyone in or near my area that would like to fly, and maybe show me some pointers on the Revolution.

Xenia OH is near Dayton, Springfield, Kettering, Beavercreek, and Fairborn OH.

Anyone intrested in flying together just let me know.

Hi Jaymes,
you might try these guys:
http://home.adelphia.net/~osekcleve/Ohi ... _ohio.html

There's some real good people in that club and I'm sure it's worth the drive.

I know it's not close, but you should try to make the Mots festival in Milwaukee. There will be more Rev fliers there than you can shake a spar at.

Including a couple of good rev teams.
