Happy Decorating

Summer entertaining is one of my favorite things to do. I think it&#;s because of the causal, laid back feeling you can create when putting a gathering together. I also love the idea of having a designated area that can be transformed into a fun spot to hang out and enjoy a good time. We live on a lake and spend most of our time outdoors, in the other months too. Because pf this, we needed a space that was covered and functional to create a low key hang out. so, we turned this old shed into what we lovingly call, &#;The Beer barn&#;

Outside Before

The first thing we wanted to do is update the outside to give it a more updated and polished look to make it more cohesive in our yard. Paint usually makes the most impact at the lowest cost. I wanted it to have a rich, rustic look and I love the look of woods and dark colors. For the main color we used Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams.

Then I wanted to bring in some warm wood tones so I stained the doors in Early American.

The rest of the changes were just aesthetic things to give it more personality. We added the wood whisky barrels to bring in more of the warm woods and planted real Olive trees in them We also added a big farmhouse light for character and ambiance.

We also added flagstone at the entrance to give it a more finished look and to avoid having a muddy entryway to the door.

Inside Before

The inside required a lot more work but the end result was so worth it. One of the biggest issues was that it also was becoming a catch all of junk. We still need it to store items for the lake, however a lot of it was cluttering up the space and making it hard to enjoy as a functional space to hang out.

First thing we did was to clear out the whole shed. We through out anything we didn&#;t need or that was broken. That way we could determine how much space was truly needed to store items and how we could best store them.

We knew that finishing off the walls would make a big impact in keeping the area looking cleaner and more appealing, however we did not want to spend a lot of money. I love the look of barn wood walls but knew that it would be more time consuming and expensive. So, we found these faux barn wood looking panels at our local Lowes. The whole cost for them was about $

Then, all we did was nail the panels to the studs. There were some tricky cuts involved but we really weren&#;t super picky on the small details for the shed. Once we had the panels up it already made a huge difference in how clean and bright it felt.

I decided that painting the floors would also add a more finished look to the room. However, I really didn&#;t want to put a lot of time or money into it. I had originally bought garage, concrete paint to paint the floors but didn&#;t like the gray option with the barn wood browns. I wanted to keep with the rustic feel. So I decided to try concrete stain.

My first mistake was the color selection. They color I selected I though was a taupe but once I painted it on the floors, it looked too gray. So I went back and bought a darker more brown color and love how it turned out. Since it is a stain, I really wanted it to look like stain not paint on the floors, so when I applied it, I didn&#;t do a heavy even coat. I loved the layered more splotchy look it gave.

Once the walls and floors were complete, I painted the old bar to clean it up and wow what a difference that made. Then it was a matter of adding the decorations and items we needed to make it fun and inviting. The TV was placed on a shelf and we added old vintage waterskis and signs. The wooden vintage cooler even looked better in the newly designed space.

The fun fishing pole light was a project my husband did a few years ago. He used an old minnow bucket for the base, filled it with concrete then stuck in an old fishing pole. He created the lamp using a lamp kit and the inner part of the minnow bucket as the lampshade. It was super easy and adds so much character to the whole room.

I know we will enjoy this space so much more now and it will quickly become a favorite spot in the yard. I love that even if it&#;s starts raining, we can sit inside and enjoy watching the lake or a game and still be &#;outside&#; by the water.

Isn&#;t that such a fun space and can you believe how different it looks ? It always amazes me what a difference paint makes in any space. Lucir un vientre plano y firme sí es posible

Madrid, 9 de julio de Quién no ha soñado nunca con lucir un vientre plano. A pesar de la actividad física, los tratamientos adelgazantes y los esfuerzos, ¿no consigues la silueta que deseas? Los embarazos, las dietas continuas con aumentos y reducciones de peso y el propio envejecimiento que favorece la relajación cutánea hacen que el vientre pierda firmeza y tonificación, pero gracias a la cirugía estética podemos corregir esta falta de tensión a través de la abdominoplastia.

Como aclara el doctor Pérez Luengo, cirujano estético, plástico y reparador: “El objetivo de la abdominoplastia o de una cirugía plástica abdominal es devolver al abdomen la firmeza perdida debido a las malformaciones. En función de la naturaleza del problema (exceso de grasa, cutáneo, etc.) se contemplan diferentes técnicas: una abdominoplastia completa o una sencilla reducida. El cirujano plástico será quien reconozca, en la primera visita, el estado de la piel y quien aconseje a la paciente la mejor solución al problema que presenta”.

España sigue ostentando el quinto lugar en el ranking de países donde más cirugías plásticas se realizan, gracias a los avances que ha experimentado este sector en los últimos años, ubicándose por detrás de los países estrellas que son Estados Unidos, Brasil, México y Alemania. Y de todas ellas, la abdominoplastia es una de las más frecuentes. La demanda ha aumentado también por parte del sexo masculino que busca un abdomen más firme y plano.

Sus ventajas

Este tipo de operación “suele ser muy demanda entre las mujeres con el fin de recuperar la figura tras el parto. Pero con ella no sólo se logra este objetivo estético, sino que los estudios apuntan a que reduce el riesgo de incontinencia urinaria, un problema frecuente tras los embarazos, así como el dolor de espalda”, recalca el especialista. Y no sólo, la intervención ha constatado tener ventajas para las personas con obesidad y diabetes tipo II.

Algunas de las famosas que tras dar a luz han pasado por esta intervención son: Angelie Jolie, la primera de la lista en someterse a ella en tras dar tener a sus gemelos, Britney Spears, que con 35 años y tras dos embarazos, se rumorea que ha pasado por varias cirugías, entre ellas una de mama y a la del abdomen, así como Mariah Carey, entre otras muchas.

La operación

La intervención dura de dos a tres horas y se inicia con la extracción del exceso de grasa situado en el bajo vientre (liposucción). A continuación, se procede a tensar la pared abdominal reduciendo la distancia entre los músculos de la pared abdominal que se han separado debido al embarazo, los cambios de peso, etc. Esta corrección espacial de los músculos es lo que permite tensar de nuevo el vientre. “La cicatriz de una abdominoplastia se localiza en la zona del pubis y es más o menos larga en función de la longitud de la incisión que la operación haya exigido, pero poco visible por su ubicación. Para realizar este tipo de intervenciones suele aplicarse anestesia general o bien anestesia epidural y el paciente debe permanecer ingresado uno o dos días”, recuerda el cirujano Pérez Luengo.

Los riesgos

Igual que en cualquier otro tipo de intervención quirúrgica, la abdominoplastia es una operación que conlleva unos riesgos: flebitis, infecciones, riesgos relacionados con la anestesia, etc. Por todo ello “es imprescindible acudir a un cirujano plástico que sea competente y esté cualificado para llevar a cabo dicha intervención en un medio hospitalario con garantías. Esto reducirá los riesgos y nos dará la suficiente confianza como para ponernos en sus manos”, apostilla el experto.

El postoperatorio

Tras la operación, hay que llevar un seguimiento regular. Normalmente, se hace una primera cura a los cinco días y dos revisiones semanales al inicio. Después, se hará un seguimiento personalizado para garantizar que la cicatrización sigue su curso con normalidad. “Se recomienda llevar una faja de contención durante cuatro semanas como mínimo, y durante la primera semana se seguirá un tratamiento analgésico, antibiótico y de profilaxis de las tromboflebitis”, según prescriba el cirujano.

La reincorporación laboral deberá programarse para los 10 a 12 días siguientes a la operación, y la actividad física no podrá retomarse hasta pasadas, como mínimo, unas seis semanas y se hará de forma progresiva.

Es conveniente, además, tener en cuenta otras medidas:

· Se puede caminar desde el primer día, pero evita cualquier esfuerzo y hacerlo de la forma en la que indique el

· Se debe dormir boca arriba y con las rodillas en alto.

· No tomar el sol o rayos UVA en la zona operada

· Ingerir abundantes líquidos y una dieta equilibrada y sana con alto contenido en fibra.

Resultados

La cicatriz es casi ‘invisible’ porque se puede ocultar con el traje de baño. Una vez el proceso haya finalizado, la marca sólo será lineal. Al principio adoptará un tono rojizo y al cabo de cuatro a seis meses iniciará su proceso de maduración, hasta palidecer a los 12 meses. Los resultados son rápidos y se aprecian casi de inmediato. Es normal que durante los primeros dos o cuatro meses se note un edema justo debajo del ombligo”. En algunos pacientes, es posible que la zona central la cicatriz, con más tensión, aumente en anchura con el paso del tiempo. Siempre es corregible, eliminando parte de la cicatriz bajo anestesia local, una vez que los tejidos se hayan acomodado. El tatuaje artístico sobre la cicatriz, es un recurso cada vez más utilizado por muchas pacientes.

En el sexo masculino

También denominada » cirugía estética de abdomen masculina» es un procedimiento común que puede reducir el tamaño de un vientre protuberante al eliminar el exceso de piel y tensar los músculos de la región media del cuerpo. La cirugía estética de abdomen puede lograr, en muchos hombres, una silueta abdominal más armónica, firme y estéticamente atractiva. “Este procedimiento, por lo general se realiza con anestesia general o epidural y sedación. En un proceso de abdominoplastia masculina tradicional se realiza una incisión en la parte inferior del abdomen desde una cadera a la otra, se elimina el exceso de piel y se reubica el ombligo. En la abdominoplastia masculina se da mucha importancia al retensado de la musculatura abdominal, mediante plicaturas que aproximan los músculos rectos del abdomen y los oblicuos.

El resto “de la piel se estira, para lograr un abdomen más firme y terso”, insiste el cirujano Pérez-Luengo. En una intervención parcial o «minidermolipectomía”, se elimina menos piel y el ombligo no se toca. Queda la cicatriz de una incisión más pequeña y el tiempo de recuperación es más corto comparado con una abdominoplastia masculina total. “También se puede realizar una liposucción al mismo tiempo para eliminar cualquier exceso de grasa de la zona. La realización de una cirugía estética de abdomen masculina total tarda de dos a tres horas aproximadamente, y la de una abdominoplastia masculina parcial requiere una o dos horas para completarse”.

Evaluating retention numbers

It&#;s January, so now&#;s a good time to look back on Pull out the guest book or your pile of newcomer cards, connection cards, or index cards—whatever you use to collect info from first-timers. Count them up. Go ahead and ignore the ones who filled in the address part with the name of some other meeting or somewhere otherwise non-local. They shouldn&#;t count against you.

What percentage are still attending? I&#;m not making a pronouncement on what that answer should be right now. But be honest: are you happy with that percentage? Do you see room for improvement? Maybe you&#;re doing a pretty good job.

Ok, but we know not everybody fills out the card or signs the guest book. So, reach your mind back. Do you recall a lot of first-timers who didn&#;t become second-timers? Or maybe you had second- and third-timers who just sort of wandered off after that. They gave you a fair shake by visiting more than once, but something didn&#;t click.

Was it the theology? Maybe. Was it something one of you said or did? Maybe.

Why do they leave?

Figuring out why they left could be tougher. For those who gave you contact info, you can just ask. For the others, you&#;re going to need a bit more empathy. As you monitor interactions with new people this year, keep an eye out for things like this:

On Sarah&#;s first visit, she stood and introduced herself, and people were eager to make her acquaintance. Next time, though, without the big reminder that she&#;s new, people fell into their usual cliques and committees. After a couple more tries, she just stopped going.
When Jamal arrived, there weren&#;t many people in the meeting room yet. He&#;d heard it was a pretty big meeting, so when he sat on an empty bench, he scooted to the middle, leaving room for others to fill in from the ends. They didn&#;t, though. Someone perched at the far end of the bench from him, but as the other benches filled, his remained conspicuously sparse. He could have laid down without touching anyone. At coffee hour, he grabbed a cup of joe and a muffin and sat down. Friends milled around and found seats to chat, but just like during meeting, none of them sat near him.
Maria had just moved to town. She didn&#;t have any friends yet, and she hoped getting involved in a local faith community would give her some roots. There&#;s a Quaker meeting just a few blocks from her apartment, so she decided to check it out. She showed up a few times, but she couldn&#;t find any information about small groups, Bible studies, or any other opportunity to build community. Finally, she asked. They told her Nominating Committee would contact her about beginning a three-year term of service on some committee, before she&#;s even really gotten to know anybody. She wasn&#;t ready for that commitment. Maybe the Mennonite Church a mile away?
Josh arrived a bit early. He didn&#;t want to be late to his first Quaker meeting! The few people already there were busy setting out chairs and preparing coffee, so they ignored him. He wandered to the pamphlet rack or pulled out his phone—anything to not just stare at a blank wall alone. As more people arrived, they gave him a wide berth. Meeting started. Meeting ended. He&#;d been there over an hour before anyone said so much as &#;good morning.&#;
Toshi decided to visit a different meeting this morning. It&#;s closer to her house than her usual one, and a pleasant walk. If she liked it, she might switch. She figured she knew the routine, so she wasn&#;t really nervous. As she hung up her coat, a woman she didn&#;t know bowed and greeted her in Mandarin Chinese with &#;ni hao.&#; Toshi&#;s eyes went wide. She resolved to stick to her current meeting. At least they didn&#;t assume she&#;s fresh off the boat and Chinese.
Matthew is not a fan of speaking in front of crowds. If the Spirit made him, well, then he might have to suck it up, but otherwise? When the clerk asked for newcomers to stand and introduce themselves, Matthew stayed rooted firmly in his seat. Nobody approached him after meeting. It was like he started with Sarah&#;s second week.
At the door, the greeter welcomed Jaime and invited them to create a name tag so everyone would greet them appropriately. Jaime wrote their name and &#;pronoun: THEY&#; on the name tag, hoping everyone would take the hint. Friends did not take the hint. &#;Oh honey, apologize to Miss Jaime for bumping into her&#; said a parent to a child. Jaimed sighed. This was all too common. Maybe they&#;d stick it out.

Remembering what happened right before someone stopped showing up can be helpful in evaluating retention. You can see ways your community needs to change to more fully reflect the Kingdom of God.

What&#;s going on there?

I hope you can see what&#;s going on in each of those examples. They&#;re inspired by stories collected from across the US. Some are based on more than one story. This doesn&#;t even touch on things like inaccessible buildings, just on how the community respects and includes people.

Ask around in your meeting. &#;Hey, what ever happened to that woman Sarah who showed up a few times in June?&#; You might not personally see everything, but as a group, you might be able to do a better job of evaluating retention. You can piece together the gaps in your welcome, and maybe you can figure out how to make people for more comfortable and part of the community.
