HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT YEAR FOR COMPANIES OPERATING IN THE UKRAINE. HOW HAS PIN-UP GLOBAL NAVIGATED THIS?

The end of February was extremely stressful for us — most of the team is in Ukraine - that is several offices of the Ecosystem companies. After the Russian invasion our focus shifted from professional accomplishments to the team’s safety and peace of mind. Since the early days of the war, the Ecosystem companies have helped their employees with relocation, paid everyone an advance — a salary and additional financial aid — and launched a psychological support program. The managers are in touch with their teams 24/7. Some employees are currently serving on the frontline, while others joined the ranks of volunteers. All jobs were kept, not a single employee was laid off.

Also during the first days of the war, Ukrainian companies under the brand name PIN-UP organised a humanitarian office which continues to provide food to the people who have suffered from the fighting and are in need of assistance. Over time, our social activities expanded so much that it was decided to create a separate company for this purpose; so I established the PIN-UP Foundation, a charitable organisation.

HOW DID RECENT EVENTS INFLUENCE THE ECONOMY OF THE COMPANY?

Despite all the macroeconomic events, PIN-UP shows positive growth dynamics. This is achieved through team diversification, the development of different geos, strong expertise in the market, and stable modern technical solutions. We do everything we can to remain a stable and reliable brand with a strong social position — and we succeed.

Конец февраля года был для нас крайне напряженным — большая часть команды находится в Украине — это несколько офисов компаний Экосистемы. После российского вторжения наше внимание сместилось с профессиональных достижений на безопасность и душевное спокойствие команды. C первых дней войны компании экосистемы помогали сотрудникам с переездом, выплатили всем аванс, зарплату и дополнительную финансовою помощь, а также запустили программу психологической поддержки. Менеджеры на связи со своими командами 24/7. Часть сотрудников ушла на фронт, кто-то занялся волонтерством. Все рабочие места были сохранены ни один сотрудник не был сокращен.

Также в первые дни войны украинские компании под торговой маркой PIN-UP организовали гуманитарный штаб, который продолжает обеспечивать необходимым продовольствием людей, пострадавших от боевых действий и нуждающихся в помощи. Со временем наша общественная деятельность расширилась настолько, что было принято решение создать для этой цели отдельную компанию; поэтому я основала благотворительную организацию Фонд PIN-UP КАК ПОСЛЕДНИЕ СОБЫТИЯ ПОВЛИЯЛИ НА ЭКОНОМИКУ КОМПАНИИ?

Несмотря на все макроэкономические события, PIN-UP показывает положительную динамику роста. Это достигается за счет диверсификации команды, развития разных гео, сильной экспертизы на рынке и стабильных современных технических решений. Мы делаем все возможное, чтобы оставаться стабильным и надежным брендом с сильной социальной позицией — и нам это удается.

YOU SEEM TO BE A VERY STRONG PERSON. WHAT HELPS YOU TO LOOK CRITICALLY AT THE WHOLE COMPANY AND BUILD A STRONG STRATEGY?

As soon as the idea emerges, I aim to assess the expected outcome of the work of each individual unit, the resources and time it will cost us. Because of this, I may appear critical of new ideas — but I am not. As long as the profit is expected to exceed the costs, we will always support such initiatives, as evidenced by the PIN-UP brand being one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing on the market. And we all know that to achieve results we need a team - the ability to pick specialists for key positions is vital for the work to keep up the tempo and direction.

YOU MENTIONED LAUNCHING A CHARITABLE FOUNDATION. WHAT DOES THE PIN-UP FOUNDATION FOCUS ON?

The Foundation is a logical progression of the Ecosystem’s social responsibility. As I have mentioned earlier, the Ecosystem companies in Ukraine helped charitable organisations, or provide independently for Ukrainians affected by the military action. The Foundation will help structure this assistance and raise it to a higher level, as just like with business, the best specialists in the field are there.

Из-за этого может показаться, что я критично настроена к новым идеям – однако это не так. Если профит от реализации ожидается выше, чем затраты – мы всегда будем поддерживать такие инициативы, в подтверждение этого – бренд PIN-UP как один из самых динамичных и быстрорастущих на рынке. И все мы знаем, что для достижения результата нам нужна команда – важно уметь подбирать специалистов на основные позиции чтобы работа была в согласованном темпе и в одном направлении.

ВЫ УПОМЯНУЛИ О СОЗДАНИИ БЛАГОТВОРИТЕЛЬНОГО ФОНДА. ЧЕМ ЗАНИМАЕТСЯ ФОНД PIN-UP?

Фонд — это логичное продолжение социальной ответственности экосистемы. Как я уже говорила, в Украине компании экосистемы помогали благотворительным организациям или самостоятельно обеспечивали украинцев пострадавших от военных действий. Фонд поможет структурировать эту помощь и поднять на уровень выше, так как и с бизнесом, там лучшие кадры в отрасли.

Hello again, Othmane. A massive congratulations on your win at the Belgrade SiGMA Pitch Competition! For our readers, who are you and what’s all this hype about 9Tales?

The pleasure’s all mine, Matt! My name is Othmane SAFSAFI, I am the CEO and one of the Founders of 9Tales. It has been quite the journey with a number of challenges. Going from 0 to , followers, setting up NFT sales and developing the game. Our success and our fans keep us going.

9Tales began as a crazy idea about merging the financial incentives of poker with a digital card game. We were our first target customers, with many others following suit. The whole idea of a skill-based game where you compete against other players and earn valuable rewards feels very natural.

What are the most recent developments at 9Tales, and what can we look out for in the near future?

Well, one of our latest successes has been winning the SiGMA Pitch Competition, of course! We have also launched a largescale playtest of our game, with over players. The results are encouraging! The feedback and positive sentiment we received showed us that we are on the right track to creating something very promising. For the near future our goal is to launch an alpha version. This will be a public version of the game with limited features. Anyone can test it out while we work on the final version of the game for the beta release.

We are % focused on this target. With the amount of talented experts we have on board, we are sure to reach it successfully.

You have described 9Tales as a fantasy card game, hinting at a background narrative. How will players experience the story of the game?

9Tales is set in a fantasy world where nine races live together. These are the humans, orcs, elves, djinns, moutas, beastmen, elementals, old ones and angels. Each race will have its own set of cards and mechanics, so you can choose to play with the noble knights of the humans or the skilled assassins of the elves.

This fantasy world feeds our strategic gameplay with stories and imagination, each race has its own playstyle and it is up to the player to choose the best cards that will allow him to beat his opponents and rise to the top. The universe of 9Tales, with its art, stories and gameplay, was carefully crafted by our creative team.

What’s the current investment stage for 9Tales? Are you anywhere close to a release?

Right now, we are extending our funding round. Our recent successes will make finding investors for the next step easier.

We intend to multiply our current fan base by 10, from , to 1 million, and scale our community to make its impact in the gaming space significant. Our alpha version will come out in two to three weeks, whilst our investment round will end by the end of November. After that we will keep working on the full release of the game in order to have an open Beta ready for Q1

Do you wish to share any final thoughts, perhaps with other aspiring startups?

Definitely. My best advice is to expect the unexpected, and to take every bit of feedback or criticism as an opportunity to improve yourself. Also keep a lookout for competitions and networking events. For instance, the SiGMA Pitch Competition in Belgrade brought us incredible visibility, and winning was proof that we are building something unique and innovative. Finally, never stop believing in your own success. You need to be your best supporter.
