Students from ”Geo Milev” ELS-Burgas who are participants in the Erasmus + project “Green City Life” took part in the Third Ecological Conference “Let’s think ecological about the future”, organised by “Asen Zlatarov” University-Burgas (Department of “Ecology and environmental protection”) and Burgas Municipality. The conference was held on of March, in the seaside casino, in „George Baev” hall. The students presented a project about “The biodiversity in our town” and more particularly about “Protected areas; biodiversity”. They shared their points of view about the need of environmental protection and made a presentation about the endangered and protected plant and animal species in Burgas and the region. Certificates and awards were given to the students and their teachers for their contribution to the protection of the environment.
Kokodiagbene Education Committee Pays a Courtesy Visit to EGCDF Executive Chairman, Chief Joseph O. Wuruyai
The Kokodiagbene Education Committee led by Donatus Akpo Ukuli (Esq.) on Tuesday, February 22, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of EGCDF, Chief Joseph O. Wuruyai, at the office Complex to congratulate him on assumption of office and his sterling leadership quality.
While applauding the Chairman for continuing with the programs and activities of the Foundation, Donatus Akpo Ukuli (Esq.) on behalf of the Kokodiagbene Education Committee also used the opportunity to plead with the Foundation Leadership to increase the number of Scholarship slots allocation to the community and also make an upward review of the amount paid to the beneficiaries. According to Donatus, the plea for increment is as a result of the growing number of students from the community entering into higher institutions of learning and the high cost of study in the country. He stated that the increasing number shows the zealousness of students from the community in pursuit of education.
The EGCDF Executive Chairman, Chief Joseph O. Wuruyai, appreciated the Kokodiagbene Education Committee for the visit and their efforts towards improving education. He stated that the Foundation is aware of the rising number of students in EGCDF constituent communities, and that the call for increase in scholarship slots allocation and upward review of the amount paid to the beneficiaries had been received severally from both Kingdoms. He therefore advised that the available slots to the various communities be managed and scholarship awarded to students based on merit. On the other hand, he appealed for all to exercise due patience and allow the Foundation Leadership to channel it to the appropriate quarters for the needed attention as the scholarship is one of the programs being sponsored by Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL).
The EGDCF Chairman, Chief Joseph O. Wuruyai, commended CNL for being consistent in funding the various activities and programs of the Foundation for the past 16 years. He finally urged the Kokodiagbene Education Committee and all to use their good offices to promote peaceful and conducive environment for CNL operations to thrive in the region.
Also present during the visit are: EGCDF Vice Chairman, Chief December Aweh; the Assistant General-Secretary, Deacon Prince Isaiah Gbenekama; the Financial Secretary, Chief Amb. Sule Akpasibewei (JP); and EGCDF Scholarship Administrator, Nwokoroku Kenneth.
