Re: Cool Fool - New Year's 2012
I had been thinking of going, but unless the wind speed predictions drop, I will probably stay home. I don't have any big kites I want to risk distroying for a non sponsored festival. 25 - 35 with gusts to 55 could easily make one of my kites a vented kite. Those of you going, stay warm.

Re: Quick fly - chicagoland - 11/12?
Hi, it was nice to fly with you and to get in a quick first flight of the mid sized Shark. I can not believe that I walked off without my phone or a camera. Now it appears that the address of Alan@Gombergkites.com is not forwarding mail to me.

Re: Nominations Needed For Regional Director
I was the Region Six RD for six years. I generally made it to at least two events in each state, usually many more. I made it a point to travel to places that did noy often see an AKA rep and literally put several thousand miles on my old Jeep each year. It can be very rewarding meeting people aroun...

A very nice start, but still amateur standing.
Many of us lost count a long time ago.

I will be in Lincoln City, OR at their Summer Kite Fest. The drive would be prohibitive.

Re: Club Fly--Where, How, Why?
A few thoughts about club flies. First the upcoming fly. I got sick coming back from Thailand, at first I thought it was a bad cold, it has turned out to be my worst illness ever. I may have been sicker when I was a kid, but never in my adult memory. I am slowly getting better but the thought of lug...

Re: Announcement: A New Section Of The IKE Website
A nice new section, bui is it a wiki? We use wikis heavily at work as a means of sharing information and as I understand them the collaborative aspect is key to it being a wiki. Now letting people go in and edit / change everything may not be what we wani, but it is what makes a wiki a wiki. Or am I...

Re: 2008: March 22, Kites Over Sycamore, IL
I won't be making it there. Thailand was great but grueling and I caught a nasty bug from the kid in the row behind me who coughed for 13 hours. I am finally starting to feel better, but I am not up to hauling big kites around. Now I just have to figure out where I am going to lay the Gecko out to r...

Re: Trains To Archs - Possible??
Pete Dolphin flys an "arch" that is a tether line with five or six full size (11 foot wingspan) ghost deltas. I see no reason that this would not work with short stacks of smaller kites.

I hope you all have fun at MAKR. I won't see you at dinner this year as I will be in Thailand flying at a festival in Cha-am. It was a tough choice: dinner at MAKR or Thailand

Re: Madison, KOI Anniversary
I spent two hours trapped on I 39 14 miles from the event, a major accident a couple of hundred yards ahead of me. When I finally got to the event the wind was dieing, there had been wind for a couple of hours......
We will leave it at that.

Re: Madison, KOI Anniversary
I am planning on heading up there on the 2nd. Craig had a great event that fell victim to the way it was run by others. He deserves a second chance and our support.
