Los embarazos, las dietas continuas con aumentos y reducciones de peso y el propio envejecimiento que favorece la relajación cutánea hacen que el vientre pierda firmeza y tonificación, pero gracias a la cirugía estética podemos corregir esta falta de tensión a través de la abdominoplastia.

Como aclara el doctor Pérez Luengo, cirujano estético, plástico y reparador: “El objetivo de la abdominoplastia o de una cirugía plástica abdominal es devolver al abdomen la firmeza perdida debido a las malformaciones. En función de la naturaleza del problema (exceso de grasa, cutáneo, etc.) se contemplan diferentes técnicas: una abdominoplastia completa o una sencilla reducida. El cirujano plástico será quien reconozca, en la primera visita, el estado de la piel y quien aconseje a la paciente la mejor solución al problema que presenta”.

España sigue ostentando el quinto lugar en el ranking de países donde más cirugías plásticas se realizan, gracias a los avances que ha experimentado este sector en los últimos años, ubicándose por detrás de los países estrellas que son Estados Unidos, Brasil, México y Alemania. Y de todas ellas, la abdominoplastia es una de las más frecuentes. La demanda ha aumentado también por parte del sexo masculino que busca un abdomen más firme y plano.

Sus ventajas

Este tipo de operación “suele ser muy demanda entre las mujeres con el fin de recuperar la figura tras el parto. Pero con ella no sólo se logra este objetivo estético, sino que los estudios apuntan a que reduce el riesgo de incontinencia urinaria, un problema frecuente tras los embarazos, así como el dolor de espalda”, recalca el especialista.  Y no sólo, la intervención ha constatado tener ventajas para las personas con obesidad y diabetes tipo II.

Algunas de las famosas que tras dar a luz han pasado por esta intervención son: Angelie Jolie, la primera de la lista en someterse a ella en tras dar tener a sus gemelos, Britney Spears, que con 35 años y tras dos embarazos, se rumorea que ha pasado por varias cirugías, entre ellas una de mama y a la del abdomen, así como Mariah Carey, entre otras muchas.

La operación

La intervención dura de dos a tres horas y se inicia con la extracción del exceso de grasa situado en el bajo vientre (liposucción). A continuación, se procede a tensar la pared abdominal reduciendo la distancia entre los músculos de la pared abdominal que se han separado debido al embarazo, los cambios de peso, etc. Esta corrección espacial de los músculos es lo que permite tensar de nuevo el vientre. “La cicatriz de una abdominoplastia se localiza en la zona del pubis y es más o menos larga en función de la longitud de la incisión que la operación haya exigido, pero poco visible por su ubicación. Para realizar este tipo de intervenciones suele aplicarse anestesia general o bien anestesia epidural y el paciente debe permanecer ingresado uno o dos días”, recuerda el cirujano Pérez Luengo.

Los riesgos

Igual que en cualquier otro tipo de intervención quirúrgica, la abdominoplastia es una operación que conlleva unos riesgos: flebitis, infecciones, riesgos relacionados con la anestesia, etc. Por todo ello “es imprescindible acudir a un cirujano plástico que sea competente y esté cualificado para llevar a cabo dicha intervención en un medio hospitalario con garantías. Esto reducirá los riesgos y nos dará la suficiente confianza como para ponernos en sus manos”, apostilla el experto.

El postoperatorio

Tras la operación, hay que llevar un seguimiento regular. Normalmente, se hace una primera cura a los cinco días y dos revisiones semanales al inicio. Después, se hará un seguimiento personalizado para garantizar que la cicatrización sigue su curso con normalidad. “Se recomienda llevar una faja de contención durante cuatro semanas como mínimo, y durante la primera semana se seguirá un tratamiento analgésico, antibiótico y de profilaxis de las tromboflebitis”, según prescriba el cirujano.

La reincorporación laboral deberá programarse para los 10 a 12 días siguientes a la operación, y la actividad física no podrá retomarse hasta pasadas, como mínimo, unas seis semanas y se hará de forma progresiva.

Es conveniente, además, tener en cuenta otras medidas:

·       Se puede caminar desde el primer día, pero evita cualquier esfuerzo y hacerlo de la forma en la que indique el

·       Se debe dormir boca arriba y con las rodillas en alto.

·       No tomar el sol o rayos UVA en la zona operada

·       Ingerir abundantes líquidos y una dieta equilibrada y sana con alto contenido en fibra.

Resultados

La cicatriz es casi ‘invisible’ porque se puede ocultar con el traje de baño. Una vez el proceso haya finalizado, la marca sólo será lineal. Al principio adoptará un tono rojizo y al cabo de cuatro a seis meses iniciará su proceso de maduración, hasta palidecer a los 12 meses. Los resultados son rápidos y se aprecian casi de inmediato. Es normal que durante los primeros dos o cuatro meses se note un edema justo debajo del ombligo”. En algunos pacientes, es posible que la zona central la cicatriz, con más tensión, aumente en anchura con el paso del tiempo. Siempre es corregible, eliminando parte de la cicatriz bajo anestesia local, una vez que los tejidos se hayan acomodado. El tatuaje artístico sobre la cicatriz, es un recurso cada vez más utilizado por muchas pacientes.

En el sexo masculino

También denominada » cirugía estética de abdomen masculina» es un procedimiento común que puede reducir el tamaño de un vientre protuberante al eliminar el exceso de piel y tensar los músculos de la región media del cuerpo. La cirugía estética de abdomen puede lograr, en muchos hombres, una silueta abdominal más armónica, firme y estéticamente atractiva. “Este procedimiento, por lo general se realiza con anestesia general o epidural y sedación. En un proceso de abdominoplastia masculina tradicional se realiza una incisión en la parte inferior del abdomen desde una cadera a la otra, se elimina el exceso de piel y se reubica el ombligo. En la abdominoplastia masculina se da mucha importancia al retensado de la musculatura abdominal, mediante plicaturas que aproximan los músculos rectos del abdomen y los oblicuos.

El resto “de la piel se estira, para lograr un abdomen más firme y terso”, insiste el cirujano Pérez-Luengo. En una intervención parcial o «minidermolipectomía”, se elimina menos piel y el ombligo no se toca. Queda la cicatriz de una incisión más pequeña y el tiempo de recuperación es más corto comparado con una abdominoplastia masculina total. “También se puede realizar una liposucción al mismo tiempo para eliminar cualquier exceso de grasa de la zona. La realización de una cirugía estética de abdomen masculina total tarda de dos a tres horas aproximadamente, y la de una abdominoplastia masculina parcial requiere una o dos horas para completarse”.

Any time I throw a party, you can be assured that the food will be plentiful. I&#;d much rather have too much food than not enough &#; I want to make sure my guests have a good time, and I welcome leftovers because I&#;ll just put them to use after the party! Jaime&#;s bachelorette party food buffet ended up being so large that several people commented, &#;How many guests are you expecting?!&#; when they saw how much there was! Since party food seems to be my specialty, I wanted to share what I did at this event to give you inspiration for your own menu.

Bachelorette Party Food Ideas

• Wedding-Themed Eats: As you can tell from the photo above, I can&#;t resist terrible puns. 😉 The &#;Can&#;t elope&#; joke sprung into my mind while I was writing down ideas for the party, and I quite literally got a cantaloupe just so I could use that joke. I printed off a piece of paper with my joke, taped it onto the back of toothpick, cut the melon into small pieces and then inserted the sign into one of the pieces of cantaloupe to display it.
• Other Fruit: I also served grapes, watermelon slices, and two large trays filled with raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. Since most of my cocktail recipes called for fresh raspberries, these trays did double-duty for both making the drinks and also providing a sweet snack for the guests.
• Cheese Table: As I mentioned in my post about our wine tasting, I picked out a selection of six cheeses to pair with our wines. There was so much cheese that I ended up putting it on a separate table since it wouldn&#;t fit on the main buffet!
• Homemade Bread: My bread machine makes bread baking a snap, and fresh, homemade bread always seems to be a big hit. I took my breadmaker to Portland, since I wanted to bake bread for the party and also for a Tapas Competition I was going to the following day. I baked two loaves for the party and it went really nicely with the cheeses.
• Aceitunas a la Sevillana: Speaking of the Tapas Competition, I was also making Aceitunas a la Sevillana for the event, and decided to double the batch so I could serve them at the bachelorette as well, since they are also pair excellently with wine.

• Hummus: I got two large containers of hummus, which I think makes a great party snack. Guests could eat this with the bread or with the veggie platter I made. Which brings us to:
• Veggies: I usually prefer to make my own veggie platters rather than getting the pre-made ones, since it&#;s the more frugal option. I chopped up cucumber and bell pepper, which I served along with grape tomatoes and peeled, chopped carrot sections.
• Pizza: I wanted to have something for a main course, so I picked up several large, ready-to-bake pizzas. Since there was a lot of food, I only ended up needing to bake one during the party &#; we cut it into bite-sized pieces, which made it easy to serve! Pizza also paired with one of the wines I was serving.
• Chocolate: I set out a box of Merci Chocolates to be enjoyed with the Rosa Regale wine that was available.
• Popsicles: I was gifted a stack of coupons for free boxes of Popsicles, so I picked up a few boxes for the party, just for fun! I put them in a foam cooler underneath the buffet table, but had to drag it on the front porch after the box broke apart on one side.

I kept two other coolers under the buffet table: One was completely filled with ice, and the other contained things like my cocktail shaker, sweetener, limes, and mint for the cocktails. I also placed two boxes in the kitchen for trash and recycling. I always like to label these clearly at parties, so guests know where to place their empty plates and bottles.

What are your top tips for creating a memorable menu?

My fiancé and I attended the Pre-cana Seminar at San Sebastian Church in August and got married in December. For those of you who are not familiar, &#;pre-cana&#; is a preparation session (or an orientation) for couples preparing to get married in a Catholic Church.

San Sebastian Basilica (SSB) is quite strict in hosting their own pre-cana to make sure couples fully understand the lifelong commitment that they are about to get into. During the 7pm PM Friday session, the facilitators covered the following topics: sacrament of matrimony, differences between man and woman, communication, divorce, pregnancy, and the marriage rites itself. It was a good way to reflect and understand that marriage is a serious commitment, not just for formality.

However, having attended the Discovery Weekend seminar hosted by CEFAM Ateneo (an optional, immersive and spiritual 3D2N experience which you have to pay for but super worth it), I felt the lecture and presentation materials used by San Sebastian were somewhat redundant. Thus I looked forward more to the marriage rites lecture about getting married in this historic minor basilica.

I&#;d like to share with you the important points I took note of during my own wedding preps and wedding day. If you are months (or years) away from getting married in the same church, worry not because this post (hopefully) saves you time and stress to host your own dream wedding at San Sebastian Basilica!

Time Management

• Typical marriage rites in San Sebastian Basilica lasts for 1 hour.
• They are quite strict with this rule to respect the other scheduled weddings, so make sure that the bride and groom, together with parents and entourage, are already at the venue at least 30 mins before the booked time slot.
• Guest priest, if any, must also be cautious of time to cover the homily and rites.
• Fifteen minutes is allotted for the pictorial session.

Church Coordinator

• SSB provides their own floor coordinator to facilitate the ceremony. Upon entering the church, full coordination is turned over to them &#; from contract signing, handling the commentator role, to the bride&#;s personal needs like tissue, bottled water, etc.
• All special requests (guest priest, musician, personal vow, own scripture reader, etc) must be coursed through them so I suggest messaging the assigned coordinator (usually it is Ms. Ana La Torre) ahead of time and letting her know of your wedding date and other concerns.

We had a unique case considering our special requests such as:

• Mixed marriage ceremony (me being a Protestant, him a Catholic) so we had to take a special interview and pass additional requirements such as Certificate of Freedom to Marry from the Archdiocese of Manila
• Hired our own guest priest
• 2 hours slot (instead of the default 1 hour) &#; we paid for 2 time slots too
• We also hired vocalist and strings band and own event coordinators to assist us on the day.

It was pretty easy to deal with San Sebastian&#;s coordinator and Parish office. I believe as long as you communicate your vision and requests to them properly, they will make it all happen.

Music

• Hired musicians should coordinate with SSB&#;s Tita Lucy, who is the organist, and arrive 1 hour before the wedding
• If you have a vocalist or you want San Sebastian to play a song request for you, burn songs in a CD in mp3 format
• Entourage march: Instrumental songs like Canon in D (Pachelbel) or Wedding Song (Kenny G)
  Bridal march: (closed door) with vocals live
• No need for &#;Glory to God&#; song
• Approved songs for mass: Hallelujah, Our Father, offertory and communion songs
• During the mass: Liturgical songs (offertory song during secondary sponsors&#; part, communion song during communion)

Marriage Proper

• Follow San Sebastian&#;s sequence for the wedding march, as drawn on the leaflet they distribute
• If you want to have offertory, let the offerers walk before the entourage
• Wedding misalettes are optional for the principal sponsors and guests, and printing is c/o couple
• The real wedding ring is given to the best man or mother of the groom (to avoid unnecessary delays)
• Candles are provided by the church. Just make sure you provide an igniter or lighter to assigned candle sponsor
• Veil sponsor must use safety pins
• Principal sponsors will sign the marriage contract upon taking their seats after the march

Photo Op Sequence (Suggested)

If you have additional requests like photo op with friends or officemates, let the San Seb coordinator know at least days in advance.

• Additional fee of Php /unit for electricity use if you plan to rent Iwata air coolers from 3rd party suppliers
• Their coordinator and even church admin staff rent out white cloth for bridal march. This is used to cover the parking lot and electricity cables in the background when the church door is opened. It only costs Php
