NBA draft seçmeleri nasıl yapılır? Draft ne demek? NBA draft ne anlama geliyor?
Draft İngilizce bir kelimedir. Türkçe anlamı ise "Tasarı, taslak, planlamak, görevlendirmek" gibi anlamlara gelmektedir. NBA draft ise NBA 'deki takımlara oyuncu seçme sistemi olarak geçiyor.
Milli basketbolcu Alperen Şengün, NBA Draft 2021'de 16. sıradan Houston Rockets tarafından seçildi.
NBA Seçmeleri (Draft), NBA'de bulunan takımların belli kurallar dahilinde oyuncu seçmesi sistemidir.
NBA seçmelerine girebilmek için belli şartlar vardır. Girecek oyuncu seçmelerin yapıldığı gün en az 19 yaşında olmalıdır. Genel olarak NCAA liginde oynamış kolej oyuncuları tercih edilir. Kolej takımında 4 sezon oynamış ve mezun olmuş oyuncular otomatik olarak seçmelerde seçilebilir, fakat bu bir zorunluluk değildir. İsteyen her oyuncu 4 yıl beklemeyip 19 yaşına girmiş olduğu sürece istediği sezondan sonra seçmelere gireceğini açıklayabilir. Bunun dışında son yıllarda yoğun bir şekilde ABD dışındaki liglerden de genç oyuncular seçilmektedir. Yabancı oyuncular 22 yaşında girdiği yılki seçmelerde otomatik olarak seçilebilir. İsteyen oyuncular ise daha önceden seçmelere girer. Seçme sisteminin NBA'in bugünkü durumuna gelmesinde ve takımların arasındaki dengenin sağlanmasında önemli rolü vardır.
Eskiden liseyi bitiren oyuncular 18 yaşına geldiklerinde seçmelere girebilmekteydi. 2006'dan itibaren ise yaş sınırı bir yaş arttırıldı ve liseyi yeni bitiren oyunculara bir yıl daha bekleme zorunluluğu getirildi. Oyuncuların çoğu bu zamanı NCAA'de geçirirken Brandon Jennings gibi denizaşırı liglere gidip profesyonel olanlar da mevcuttur.
Yetenekli ve gelecek vadeden oyuncular bütün sezon boyunca yetenek avcıları tarafından takip edilir. Ayrıca genç oyuncular yaz liglerinde denenir. Seçmeler Haziran ayında, sezon bittikten hemen sonra düzenlenir. Seçim günü gelindiğinde takımların seçeceği oyuncular hemen hemen bellidir.
Seçmelerde ilk sıralarda genelde büyük yıldız adayları seçilse de büyük yıldız oyuncu olacakları kesin değildir. Örneğin 1998 yılında tüm otoritelerin tercihi olan ve ilk sırada Los Angeles Clippers tarafından büyük umutla seçilen Michael Olowokandi bir türlü beklenenleri veremeyip takasta kullanılırken, 1984 yılında 3. sıradan Chicago Bulls tarafından draft edilen Kuzey Karolina mezunu Michael Jordan ligin en önemli oyuncusu olmuş takımına 6 şampiyonluk kazandırmıştır.
NBA seçmeleri iki aşamada olur. Seçimler kesin kurallara göre belirlenmiştir. İlk aşamada bir önceki sezon play off'a giremeyen 14 takım katılır. Bu aşamada takımlar bir önceki sezondaki sıralamadaki durumlarına göre NBA Lottery denilen çekilişe girerler ve çıkan sonuca göre oyuncularını seçerler.
Bu takımların sıralamada alacakları sıra kura ile belirlenir. Ancak normal sezonu en kötü galibiyet yüzdeleriyle tamamlayan takımların ilk sıralarda yer alma ihtimalleri daha yüksek tutulmuştur.

Bu ilk 14 oyuncudan sonra sonraki 16 oyuncu ise play-off'a çıkan takımlar tarafından tercih edilir. Burada sıralama sezon içinde yaptıkları maçların galibiyet- mağlubiyet oranına göre belirlenir. Sistemin işleyişi yine bir önceki sezonu en iyi oranla bitiren takımın en son tercih etmesi şeklindedir. Burada önemli olan sezonu şampiyon bitirmek değil, normal lig maçlarındaki galibiyet yüzdesidir. Örneğin 2004 yılında play offlar sonunda Detroit Pistons şampiyon olduğu halde normal sezonda en yüksek galibiyet oranını Indiana Pacers aldığı için son sırada Indiana seçmiştir.
İlk turda oyuncular seçildikten sonra aynı sıralama ikinci tur oyuncuları için devam eder ve takımlar ikinci kez oyuncu tercih ederler. Ancak bu sıralama standart olmaz. Çünkü takımlar oyuncu transferinde veya takaslarda draft seçme haklarını da takasa sokabilirler. Yani bir oyuncu karşılığında bir draft sırasının karşı takıma verilmesi veya bunu üçlü veya dörtlü olarak takımlar oyuncu ve draft sıralarını takas ederler. Örneğin Vince Carter, Golden State Warriors tarafından draft edilmesine rağmen Golden State hakkını Orlando'ya, Orlando Washington'a, Washington da Toronto Raptors'a devrettiği için Carter Toronto'ya gitmiştir.
